On 9th March, approved by Ministry of Education of People s Republic of China, B. Sc. Degree Program in Logistics Management jointly initiated by with Regional Maritime University (RMU) and SMU was grandly inaugurated in Accra, Ghana.
Mr. Michael Luguje, representative of The United Nations International Maritime Organization (IMO) in Africa, Ms. Dzifa Aku Attivor, Minister of Transport of Ghana, Mr. Gong Jianzhong, Ambassador of People s Republic of China in Ghana, Mr. Magnus Teye Addico, Secretary-General of Maritime Organization of Central and West Africa, Ms.
Du Huifang, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Prof. Yu Shicheng, President of SMU, Mr. A.K.Asamoah, President of RMU, representatives of port and shipping companies in central and west Africa as well as teachers and students representatives of the project attended the inauguration.
President Yu said in his opening remarks that the project of B. Sc. Degree in Logistics Management was not only the very first out-reach education program for SMU but also the first among Shanghai local universities. This project witnessed the great progress made by SMU and RMU in the past years.He hoped that the two universities would work together to made the project a fine example of cooperation in Sino-Africa education.
Minister Dzifa Aku Attivor expressed her expectation of the two universities for maintaining a good collaborative relation to produce more talents in her speech.
Ambassador Gong remarked this project greatly promoted the good collaboration between China and Ghana. He hoped that the two universities would make greater progress through further communication.
After that, on behalf of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Ms. Du Huifang presented books which were sponsored by Shanghai government for this project. RMU President Alock Asamoah accepted the books.
During the inauguration ceremony, President Yu attended parade and was interviewed by local media in Ghana.
