CNU Teachers and Students Make Donations to Earthquake-hit Areas

Write: Corin [2011-05-20]
The devastating earthquake in Wenchuan of Sichuan province on May 12 caused great losses in human lives and property, and the disaster also touched the heart of every CNU teacher and student. On May 13th, the university called upon teachers and students to make donations to the earthquake-hit areas to help victims, and the whole CNU teacher and student team responded quickly to make everyone s best to donate and to help.
College of Life Sciences, the College of Political Sciences and Law, the Foreign Language College, the Music College, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Physics all the organs with CNU moved. Students donated out from their pocket money and living expenses, and many students just left their money at the donation site of the China Youth League without leaving their names. We believe, one yuan equals to a bottle of water, five yuan equals to a pack of Adhesive bandages, and 10 yuan means a meal for the victims -- as long as we unit and make joint efforts, we can make a difference and help people in hit-areas to reconstruct faster.
At the donation sites of the Organization Department and Labor Union, many temporary workers, graduated students, foreign students, children, workers and renters opened their wallet to donate money. In particular, many retired workers struggled to the donation sites despite of their poor health conditions.
As 12:00 on May 16, CNU had raised a total of 896,576.97 yuan in donation, including 284,270 yuan from students. The fund has been sent to the Red Cross in China.
