The honored guests in the 2008 Beijing International Education Expo visited our university on May 9, which included Mr. Michael K. Thomas, chairman of a six-state university program in New England, Mr. Gianluca Salvatori, Minister for Innovation of Trento, and Carlo Basani, the education secretary of Trento. University Party Secretary Zhang Xue and Dean of College of International Education Liu Xiaotian met the delegation.
Zhang briefed the guests on the subjects, academic highlights, innovations in teaching and international operations of CNU and expressed the wish to further expand exchanges with overseas universities. The visiting guests agreed that they would introduce CNU to outstanding institutions and universities of their countries. After the talks, the guests toured around the library, the history museum and the calligraphy museum with great interest.
The six states of the New England boast high-quality educational resource, and four out of eight Ivy League schools are based in New England. Italy has the longest history of higher education with great universities like the University of Rome, Milan University, just to name a few. In addition, Italy has subjects like fashion design and visual arts that appear to be very attractive for students with CNU. High-level visits like this one will definitely create more exchange chances for CNU students and teachers.
