Jiang Hongxin Delivers a Speech at Presidents Dialogue of Sino-Greek Universities

Few days ago, Presidents Dialogue of Sino-Greek University was jointly held by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Greek Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). A speech of Strategies for Internationalization of Chinese Local Universities and Cooperation Patterns for Sino-Greek Universities was delivered by Jiang Hongxin, Vice President of HNU.

Jiang, taking HNU as an example, stated the general situation of local universities and higher education in China, explained the significance, aim and ways of internationalization of local universities and also pointed out the international degree to which most of local four-year universities should achieve, which make the internationalization of Chinese colleges and universities possible. Furthermore, he emphasized that HNU, as one of the 211 Project for higher education, cannot be generalized, and even localized. What HNU need to do is to gradually enhance its competitiveness and international influence by internationalizing itself, with the aim of building a first-class university in China.

Presidents Dialogue of Sino-Greek University was hosted by Li Jianmin, Deputy Secretary General of CSC, together with Pro. Gregory P. Prastacos, President of AUEB. Presidents of 7 Chinese and Greek universities expressed their views on each country s education policy, management of colleges and universities and cooperation and exchange between Chinese and Greek universities respectively. These universities include Xi an Jiaotong Univ., NankaiUniv., SoutheastUniv., Dalian Medical Univ., AthensUniv., Athens National Technical Univ. and AUEB. Representatives from 35 University, like Peking Univ. Zhejiang Univ. and FudanUniv. and 7 Greek universities attended the conference. Wang Jianguang, Office Director of CSC, Li Yanguang, Director of International Recruitment Department and Chen Li, Official of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges Ministry of Education were present.
