Yu Laishan Visited HNU

In the past year, many foreign experts and foreign employees have made great contributions to the economic construction and social progress in Hunan. Hunan Provincial People s Government, Provincial Human Resource and Social Security Department, Provincial Foreign Experts Bureau and other authorities in different cities cooperate with each other to organize visit to foreign experts to express our thankfulness and gratitude.

On the morning of January 30^th, 2011, Yu Laishan, a member of standing committee of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Executive Vice-governor, and Peng Chonggu, head of Organization Department of Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Human Resource and Social Security Department, paid a visit to Samantha Jenkins and Steven Kirk, a couple working in Hunan Normal University, to send them New Year s wishes.

In a laboratory of HunanNormalUniversity, Samantha Jenkins, a chemical expert from England, was still conducting research on silicon element. Ms. Samantha has made unique academic contribution in such fields as quantum chemistry, carbon chemistry and molecular function. In September, 2010, she was selected as one of the One Hundred Talented Experts of HunanProvince, with the aim of promoting the national key research projects of College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in HunanNormalUniversity.

Have you got used to the climate and life in Hunan? Yu Laishan asked Ms. Samantha with care. Ms. Samantha answered with a laugh, Yes, I am fond of the chili food in Hunan . She said that she was very glad to have a chance to work in Hunan and hoped that she could make some contribution to the development of HunanProvince. Samantha sent her research fruit, a diagram showing the molecular structure of silicon element and oxygen element under the influence of gravity, as a gift to Yu Laishan, to show her thankfulness to Hunan Provincial Government and Party Committee.

Zhang Guoji, Chairman of Council of Human Normal University, Jiang Hongxin, Vice-president, Yi Dulin, Dean of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering College, and Tang Jianwen, Head of Office of International Exchange and Communication, accompanied the leaders in their visit.
