Strategic partnership between USTC and Xinhua News Agency

President Hou Jianguo, while attending the 2^nd Plenary Session of the 11^th Chinese National People??s Congress in Beijing, visited the Xinhua News Agency on the afternoon of March 6 and held a discussion with its director Li Congjun and deputy director Lu Wei on the strategic partnership between USTC and the Xinhua News Agency. Also present at the discussion were Fang Zhaoben, vice chairman of C.P.P.C.C. of Anhui Province and dean of management school of USTC, and Chen Xiaojian, assistant to the president of USTC.

Through the discussion, both sides have reached an agreement to bring each other's strengths into full play and enter into a strategic partnership in finance, information science and technology, personnel training and journalism. Under this partnership, the Xinhua News Agency as an influential national news agency will strengthen its reporting on USTC and provide media support for USTC's teaching, research and enrollment.

In addition, USTC and the Xinhua News Agency will jointly establish the CFC Finance Research Center and apply for national research funding and the setting up of a national-level laboratory, develop applied research in financial engineering and information science and technology, and undertake relevant personnel training.

This strategic partnership will be highly significant to the Xinhua News Agency for its finance and information products and personnel training, and highly constructive to USTC for the enhancement of its financial engineering, information science and technology, and management programs. It will help both USTC and the Xinhua News Agency to better contribute to the nation??s social and economic development.
