Seminar on Research on Basic Scientific Problems for Magnetic Confined Fusion , a project of the 973 program, held on Beijing Nov 23. The representatives came from the Ministry of Science and Technology of PR China (MOST), Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), Chinese Academic of Science (CAS), China International Nuclear Fusion Energy Program (ITER) Execution Center etc. Prof. Li Ding, Chief Scientist of the project, was the host.

The project focusing on the foundation research facing to the future development, as an ITER project, was one of the two import program approved by MOST, 2008.
The expert group highly praised task teams based on heated discussion and serious evaluation, and gave a conclusion that progress had been reached on the project itself and the talent training as each team had done much work , and the stage aims had been got. The experts also gave rationalized suggestions on the future research plan.
The seminar strengthened the academic communication between teams, deepened the understand of some problems, highlight the key points of the future. The seminar closed successfully.
