The Opening of Century of Science, SSCI, and A&HCI Databases, ZJU

On January 5^th, Zhejiang University announced the opening of Century of Science, SSCI and A&HCI databases. Thanks to this teachers and students can gain access to the precious scientific literature of over 100 years on the net hereafter.

Web of Science, the widelyadopted and authoritative citation index database in the academic circle, covers the bibliography, references and citation information of important academic literaturepublished ever since 1900. Zhejiang University introduced the SCI database in 2001. Recently, the University has agreed with Thomson Scientific Information Group on cooperation and added Century of Science, SSCI and A&HCI databases to the original one.

President Yang Wei attended the opening ceremony. In his view, innovation of scientific research should draw on and absorb the fruits of the past research, and referring to the scientific literature is an effective means. He called for all the teachers and students to make the best use of the Web of Science for the purpose of making more high quality academic achievements and promoting the cooperation and exchange of scientific research between the international academic circle and the University in a higher, deeper and broader way.

Doctor Liu Yu, director and general manager of China Representative Office of Thomson Reuters, unveiled the plaque in the opening ceremony. Vice-president Lai Maode and representatives of Scientific Research Institute, Social Science Institute, Development and Planning Division, Graduate School and the library all attended the ceremony.
