First International Seminar on China Development Zone Policies Concludes Successfully at NAU

On July 4, 2009, the First International Seminar on China Development Zone Policies, sponsored by Ministry of Commerce and organized by NAU, was successfully concluded. Zhou Gunaghong, vice-president of NAU, Ms. Chen Xioamei, vice director general at Jiangsu Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Sun Jin, director from Overseas Investment Office at Jiangsu Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation witnessed the closing ceremony hosted by Zhang Hongsheng, Dean of College of International Education at NAU.

Zhou Guanghong, in the name of the organizer, proposed that the seminar introduced systematically the development course of development zone, its management mode and successful experience, plus the decisive role it has played in China s economic and social development. This seminar not only provided the opportunity to exchange views about the construction of development zone, but also increased mutual understanding and friendship.

Balogun Adegboyega, chief law adviser from Lachish free-trade zone in Nigeria, delivered a speech on behalf of the 22 trainees. He noted that the trainees, through theory study and on-spot investigation, gained insights on the construction of development zone and its successful experience, and this would be of great value to them.

This seminar has got substantial support and attention from Foreign Aid Department and Training Centre of Ministry of Commerce, and Jiangsu Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation as well. Besides, it helps to gain foreign countries support and cooperation so as to boost the rapid and sound development of overseas economic and trade cooperation .
