Nanjing University (NJU) on August 15 received 120 UK undergraduates on the Study China Programme, who will spend three weeks at NJU to learn about China its language and culture.
The 120 students from 56 UK universities are selected from over 2000 applicants, many of whom are from prominent universities, such as the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.
During their three-week stay at Nanjing University, the programme participants will learn Chinese language, Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy and Chinese painting, and attend lectures on Chinese history, culture, society and economy.
They will also visit some places of interest and businesses in Nanjing, watch Chinese folk art performances and join the local families in making dumplings.
The Study China Programme, a three-week study programme in China funded by the British government, is designed to give UK undergraduates a full understanding of Chinese language and culture and to improve relationships between UK and Chinese people.
The programme started in 2007 and runs twice each year one in summer and one at Easter.
