After the severe drought hit Guizhou Province this year, most local forage and plants withered due to lack of water. Eupatorium adenophorum has become a superior species in the local meadows and vegetations. Therefore, it is common that sheep and goats get intoxicated by mistakenly eating the plant, seriously affecting the animal husbandry industry in the province. Between June 8 and 9, the Ministry of Agriculture carried the comprehensive control and treatment activity against Eupatorium adenophorum in Qinglong County of the province, to enhance publicity, base on science and mobilize the general public, in order to strive for over 80% eradication rate of the plant and ensure the spread of the plant will be curbed.

In the activity, through mobilizing the public, contracting of patches, centralized purchase, manual eradication, application of herbicide and chemical treatment, in total 1.5 million mu of land was under control of Eupatorium adenophorum.
