The "Companhia de Entrepostos e Armaz? |ns Gerais de So Paulo (Ceagesp)" informed, that 20% of the watermelon stock was lost, as the pavilion where it was stored was affected by flooding of the river Pinheiros, last Tuesday, the 11th of January.
The affected volume is 40 tons, which represents about R$20 thousand, based on market value. The biggest loss was caused by having to stop work for about 7 hours.
Ceagesp assured that all the product that was in contact with water will be thrown away or sent to compost factories. With that measure, they want to assure that all commercialized products are safe for human consumption.
