HFMD spike expected

The city will see a spike in hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) after March, and residents should be careful about sanitation, warned the municipal health bureau Thursday, according to the Beijing Times.
Some 376 HFMD cases were reported this year in Beijing by March 23. The number has increased for the past three weeks, though the total is still 55.45 percent lower than last year's, according to the bureau.
On Friday, the city equipped some migrant kindergartens in Chaoyang district with automatic soap dispensers to help protect children, who are most vulnerable to HFMD, the Beijing News reported.
