A 25-year-old man surnamed Nie from Baoding, Hebei Province, has been detained by Xicheng police for stealing hundreds of electric bicycle batteries.
Nie was caught near Taoranting Station on subway Line 4 on Sunday. A total of 32 batteries were found in his small room later the same night. Nie said he had earned 30,000 yuan, and that he stole so he could pay off 40,000 yuan he borrowed to get divorced.
