The Beijing police are recruiting Web users to offer them suggestions on the quality of their microblog as well as on the performance of the Municipal Public Security Bureau (PSB), the police announced via their official microblog at sina.com Tuesday.

Police microblog Pinganbeijing has attracted more than 990,000 followers so far, and now the police are inviting them to apply to be their advisors to offer suggestions for the bureau, according to Pinganbeijing. The microblog notes that no payment is offered in exchange for the assistance, but that they will give advisors "small presents."

"We are open to all kinds of suggestions, especially criticism," PSB spokesman Zi Xiangdong told the Global Times Tuesday. "We want to hear what things we have not done well," he said, adding, "We also welcome the media's suggestions."

Those interested in applying can write a private letter to Pinganbeijing, and the police will select a yet-to-be-determined number of applicants while ensuring advisors come from a wide range of fields and occupations.

The announcement received more than 60 comments within 20 minutes of being posted, with most respondents offering praise and support for the campaign, while others posted queries about the requirements to be an advisor.
