Pole kills 1, injures 1

One person was killed and another injured when a truck on an expressway in Fengtai district hit a pole over the road that was meant to restrict overly tall vehicles from passing through, the Beijing Evening News reported.
A 30-centimeter long section of the steel pole, which was mounted 4.1 meters above the road surface, fell and hit one cyclist in the head and another cyclist in the leg.
The first cyclist suffered serious head trauma and died of the injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital for autopsy.
The cyclist whose leg was injured was hospitalized for treatment.
The truck is being investigated, the report said.
