Beijing is about 30 years behind world cities like New York, London and Tokyo and will become a real world city in 2050, according to the newly published Annual Report on Urban-Rural Development of Beijing (2010-11).
Released by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the report gives Beijing a score of 34.90 for all measurement indices, 31.12 less than the average score for current world cities, the Legal Mirror reported.
The report notes that Beijing mainly is lagging in the areas of economy and society, while gaps in culture and urban infrastructure are relatively small.
