One-fourth of the male students at Peking University failed to meet health criteria, the school revealed Saturday.
A total 6,201 men and 4,836 women were tested for general fitness and weight.
Over 25 percent of male students were rated as being in bad shape, and over one-third were found to be overweight.
Only 6.45 percent of the female students failed the test, and 40 percent were too light.
Another conclusion reached was that liberal arts students at the school are in better shape than science students.
