Organized by the National Art Museum of China, City of Alexandria, Italy and the Beijing Cultural Office of Italy, an artistic exhibition entitled Road of Furturism is presenting a total of 262 pieces of excellent works.
The exhibits cover a wide range of categories from paintings, sculpture and photography to designs, publications and furniture dating back to 100 years ago. The exhibition reveals not only the development process of the futurism in the first half of the 20th century but also its influence to the contemporary art in Italy.
The exhibition, held at Hall 13,14,15,16 and 17 until Oct. 28, is expected to deepen understanding about the Italian art as new fruit of cultural exchange between our two countries.
Fan Di an, director of the National Art Museum of China, thinks high of the importance of introducing the futurism to China. The futurism can date back to the year of 1909 in Italy when the society experienced revolution and rapid development of science and technology. The artists of the futurism attempt to surpass all the traditional art to create a brand-new artistic form matching the tempo of the machine time.
The exhibition has received support from the government of Italy and Ministry of Culture of China and Sabrina Raffaghello is responsible for the overall plan. The show is part of the exchange plan between the National Art Museum of China and City of Alexandria. In the coming China Culture Year in Italy, the National Art Museum of China is to hold a Shadow Play exhibition in City of Alexandria in April, 2010, in a bid to exhibit treasures of shadow play collection from the National Art Museum of China.
