Commissioner Xie Fuzhan meets with the Visiting Delegation from Macau Statistics and Census Service

A two-person delegation headed by Ms. Mok Iun Lei, Acting Director of the Statistics and Census Service, Government of the Macau Special Administrative Region of the People s Republic of China visited the National Bureau of Statistics of China (NBS) on 3 November 2006. Mr. Xie Fuzhan, Commissioner of NBS met with the delegation and had a cheerful discussion and exchange of views. Mr. Lin Xianyu, Deputy Commissioner of NBS attended the meeting as well.

Mr. Xie Fuzhan firstly extended warm welcome to the visiting delegation and briefed them the current situations of Chinese statistical work and the challenges NBS was confronting. Ms. Mok Iun Lei gave introduction to the economic development of Macau Special Administrative Region, history of Macau Statistics and Census Service and its regular surveys conducted.

Immediately after the meeting, Mr. Lin Xianyuan and Ms. Mok Iun Lei jointly signed the Arrangement on Cooperation and Exchange between the National Bureau of Statistics of China and the Statistics and Census Service, Government of the Macau Special Administrative Region. Both sides have the common wish that the cooperation and exchange between inland and Macau Special Administrative Region will be further promoted through the Arrangement.

The participants to the meeting also included Messrs. Du Weiqun, Acting Director-General and Zhang Jun, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of NBS.
