Hunan New Year s Eve Party Staged at Helong Sports Center

A grand New Year s Eve party to welcome the new year took place at Helong Sports Center in Changsha on Dec 31, 2010. More than 20,000 people gathered at the joyous party which lasted for almost three hours.

This celebration was co-organized by the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, Changsha Municipal People's Government and the Hunan Provincial Culture Department. Professional theatrical troupes, actors, actresses, entertainment stars and extras presented fantastic performances to the audience. Everyone at the party experienced the festive atmosphere of the city while enjoying themselves.

10 red transparent balloons, 1.5 m in diameter and printed with golden "2011-Happy New Year" were released to the merry musical accompaniment. Cheerful people passed these balloons to the center of the stage as they counted down to the new year.
