Memorial Ceremonies Held in Changsha Before Tomb-Sweeping Day

About ten thousand people, including primary and secondary students, military officers and soldiers, government officials and community residents, mourned for Hunan s revolutionary martyrs in Changsha Martyrs Park on April 2, a few days before Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, a traditional Chinese festival for honoring ancestors and the deceased which falls on April 5 this year.

Some ten thousand Changsha students recited the classic revolutionary works on the occasion, initiating the Students Affection towards the Party serial activities, including singing revolutionary songs, telling revolutionary stories, reciting revolutionary works, passing on revolutionary nursery rhyme, and conducting revolutionary tours around Changsha.

Chairman of the CPPCC Changsha Municipal Committee Xie Shulin presided over the ceremony and Director of the Standing Committee of the Changsha Municipal People's Congress Yu Hequan announced the beginning of the serial activities.
