The first report of the 2009 Summer School series of reports, CUC s Visit to England: 21 Days, All the Dreams start to soar up

In this exchange of learning process, CUC s students participated in tightly-scheduled content-diversified professional training courses, which were taught by the renowned experts in the British media industry, scholars and senior BBC journalists. The courses covered a lot of aspects, such as the Origin and Development of the British Media Policy, the Difference of Traditional Styles between British Press and Chinese Media and so on. Besides the theoretical study, students have accepted highly practical training on Propaganda film making and editing and programming. Under the guidance of Professor Jeoffery Davis, they in teams collected scenes of London downtown and produced a 3-minute shortfilm to introduce London. Students shooting works were displayed in the class, rich and highly innovative in content. Their works won the great praise from all the professors whose professional comments benefited the students a lot.
In the last week of the course, students not only understood the reality show from the beginning to the molding process and then to the actual operation, but also obtained a precious experience to be a planner. Although the 21-day time is very short, they learned a lot from the teaching method of combining practice and theory.
Experiencing the British culture was also an important objective of this trip. In the training period, the students led by a teacher visited the United Kingdom s Windsor Castle where they felt the grandeur of an ancient empire and a unique temperament. They also came to the University of Cambridge, passed through the Cambridge Bridge which became known to us because of Xu Zhimo and the famous "Mathematical Bridge"; the visit to BBC also impressed them deeply. These travels not only enriched the students life and study, but also made them appreciate the unique charm of the British culture.

On the afternoon of July 31, the students reluctantly embarked on a journey home. In this short span of 21 days, they were deeply in love with this beautiful and cultural city of London. They learned a lot of new knowledge that they failed to grasp in the past and built up deep friendship with professors at the University of Westminster. Coming back doesnt mean ending, yet a new beginning.

At present, the second batch of our school s students has set off to the University of Westminster. They will also spend wonderful 21 days there.
