President Su Zhiwu Meets Representative Members of "International Alliance of Media Higher Education"

From September 18 to 19, 2009, during the period of our university s hosting the launching of "International Forum on Media Higher Education and International Alliance of Media Higher Education", President Su Zhiwu met eight universities representatives who participated in the Forum and joined the Alliance from Hong Kong, France, the United States, Australia and Japan. President Su Zhiwu thanked their participation. The participants widely exchanged views on the Alliance s development and inter-institution exchanges and cooperation.
During the talks with Hong Kong Baptist University president Wu Qinghui, President Su Zhiwu pointed out that the two universities had a lot in common in the field of news media education, and both sides could have broader room for future cooperation on the basis of past friendly exchanges. President Wu Qinghui agreed with him, hoping to strengthen exchanges between the two parties, with the alliance as a platform.

During the meeting with Professor Su Yueji, the Dean of Journalism and Communication College, Hong Kong Chinese University, . President Su Zhiwu first reviewed the achievement in the past cooperation between the two universities in student exchange, scholar exchange and academic cooperation, and exchanged views on the student summer exchange project between our university and Hong Kong Chinese University. (Hong Kong) The vice-chairman of China Ningbo Chamber of Commerce Wu Zhenting attended the meeting, and he put forward idea and plans of supporting two universities summer student exchange program. The student summer exchange programs would be launched in 2010.
During the meeting with Professor Du Maxi from Stendhal University, France, .President Su Zhiwu exchanged views with .President Du Maxi on the state of media and communication education in France. . President Du Maxi specially introduced the specific condition of "Applied Linguistics" and "International Management Communication", and the two sides discussed the future cooperation mode. . President Du Maxi said Stendhal University was willing to carry out more substantial cooperation and exchanges with CUC on the basis of signing the Alliance declaration.
In addition, President Su Zhiwu met the representatives from Missouri University of the United States, University of Southern California and Purdue University.
During the talks with Professor Cropp, the Director of international project, School of Journalism, Missouri University of the United States, the two sides focused on the short-term student exchange, and they reached consensus on specific approach and mode. During the talks, the two sides identified the specific details of signing cooperation memorandum in early November this year between the two universities.

During his meeting with Professor Severin, the Head of Department of Communication, Purdue University, . President Su Zhiwu focused on the two universitoes students short-term exchange project, and they negotiated on the signing of the student exchange agreement. In addition, Professor Severin thanked our university for inviting and organizing their students to participate in Beijing Olympic Games Volunteer Services Overseas during the Olympic Games.
During the talks with Professor Hauser, the Dean of School of Journalism, University of Southern California, president Su Zhiwu and Professor Hauser talked about the teacher exchange and student exchange in journalism and strategic public relations; both sides exchanged views on the common co-model between our university and the University of Southern California.
During the meeting with Professor Cox, the president of Australian Aidi Si Cowan University, president Su Zhiwu exchanged views on the future operation mode of the Alliance, and they thought that the promotion of the Alliance members cooperation can be achieved by the Alliance Secretariat set in CUC and establishing the Alliance Executive Committee. Both sides placed a good look on the sustained development of the Alliance.
On September 18, president Su Zhiwu met the Cabinet Minister of Japan University Takeo Sakai, the Minister of Arts Department, Japan University Nagano, Tian Qing and their party. During the meeting, Principal Su Zhiwu said that with more than 20 years exchanges constantly going deep, the friendship going deep and the achievements going substantial increasingly, and the Cabinet Minister visit and participation this time marked the two-institutions exchange entered a new mileage, and from now on the two sides should value more of the results and effectiveness of communication. The Cabinet Minister of Japan University couldn t agree more. The two sides exchanged views on the deepening of the student exchange and joint research project. Meanwhile, the school representatives respectively expressed their congratulations for our university s hosting International Forum of Media Higher Education" and successfully launching International Alliance of Media Higher Education, and they hoped that the League would become a cooperation platform of the worlds advanced media institutions, and they were willing to join hands to promote the healthy development of media higher education in the world.
