On April 30th, Communication University of China successfully held the first Theme Day for International Alliance of Media Higher Education - "Simon Fraser University Day." The President of Simon Fraser University of Canada, Michael Stephenson and his party participated in this event. The Canadian Embassy officials were also invited.
"Simon Fraser University Day" activities included high-level talks, President speech on theme day, campus visits and communication.
On 30th morning, President Su Zhiwu had a conversation with President Michael Stephenson. President Su expressed his welcome to the delegation s visit, and extend congratulations on Simon Fraser University as the first institution of "League Institutions Theme Day". The two sides reached agreement on strengthening cooperation, promoting development alliance, expanding areas of cooperation, and enhancing the level of cooperation. Vice President Hu Zhengrong, and assistant principal Li-Qun Liu attended the meeting.
On 30th noon, CUC Party Committee secretary Li Yuanpei met with President Michael Stevenson. Secretary Li commented that after the establishment of the League of Media Education Alliance in September 2009, friendship between the two universities had been increasing, and he hoped to have a closer contact and effective cooperation between the League universities and continue to expand new areas of cooperation among all member institutions. Professor Stevenson said that he was very honored to join the international alliance of media higher education, and believed that the Alliance would achieve greater development. The two sides also discussed summer school courses, graduate students joint training, promoting and exchanging their views on the projects. Yuan Jun, Vice President, and Assistant President Liu Liqun attended the meeting.
Stephenson headed to the school lecture hall then, giving a speech to teachers and students on the topic of "The Development of Communication and Simon Fraser University", and he had talked with teachers and students. President Stephenson explained his understanding of communication and introduced Simon Fraser University s development of ideas and achievements in recent years. He said that Simon Fraser University ranked No. 1 in Canada in 2009 among Comprehensive University Rankings. President Stephenson s speech focused on the digital media age of media education, and he thought that considering the role of the media in society, media education is of great significance. President Stephenson pointed out that the Communication University of China enjoys reputation in the media education all over the world, students should be proud of this. He looked forward to receiving CUC s teachers and students to Simon Fraser University to learn more. The lecture was hosted by the Vice-President Hu Zhengrong.
Compared by Vice President Yuan Jun, President Stephenson and the delegation, visited the Animation School of CUC. Liao Zhongxiang, Dean of Animation School received the delegation. The delegation appreciated the Art Gallery of Chinese Animation, and highly thought of the creativity after watching "Kung Fu Rabbit Series 3"produced by teachers and students.
On Simon Fraser University of Canada Day, CUC television station shooted activities for the whole day. Under the guidance of Vice-Dean of Foreign Languages School Wu Min Su, English news program of the television station conducted a special interview with President Stevenson.

On September 2009, Canada Simon Fraser University joined the International Alliance of Media Higher Education initiated by the Communication University of China. "Simon Fraser University Day" was the first "League Institution Theme day".
