Vice President Hu Zhengrong Met with Vice President Ke De Louite of Hanze University Groningen of Holland

On the morning of May 6th, 2010, Vice President Hu Zhengrong met with Vice President Ke De Louite of the three-people delegation from Hanze University Groningen in Holland. President Assistant Liu Liqun attended the meeting. During the meeting, Vice President Hu welcomed Vice President Louite and pointed out that CUC attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with European universities, the two sides could collaborate in different ways based on different disciplines and different colleges. Vice President Louite expressed willingness to cooperate with CUC in many fields. The both sides exchanged views on the preparation for the opening of a Confucius Institute; on summer school, student exchange, teacher exchange and other short-term projects. Their in-depth discussion also covered issues such as cooperative education, particularly 3+1 cooperation program for undergraduates, and 4 +1 cooperation program for master-level students, among many other long-term projects.

Accompanying Vice President Louite of Hanze University Groningen were Mrs. Mornicole Svenningis, who is in charge of the international project of marketing and communication department of Hanze University Groningen, and Mr. Chen Jingsheng, the Beijing Office Representative of the university. Among the CUC leaders participating in the meeting were Zhang Lili, director of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, and Pang Zengyu, dean of School Of Chinese Teaching For Overseas Students, etc.

CUC has a good cooperation relationship with Hanze University Groningen. On May 8th, 2009, President Su Zhiwu met with President Hank Koppelman and his party. On issues concerning the establishment of a Confucius Institute in the Netherlands and exchanges and cooperation between the two universities, the both sides had had a talk, and signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two universities.
Hanze University Groningen was founded in 1798, which is the oldest and the largest university of applied science and technology in Holland. It has a total of 25,000 undergraduates and 2,700 teaching personnel and has more than 70 professional and degree awarding academic areas, among which are information engineering, international communication, business administration, music, art and other areas. It has a broad cooperation and communication space with CUC.
