CUC Party Secretary Li Peiyuan Met Michael Stevenson, President of Canada Simon Fraser University

On the morning of April 30th, 2010, Mr. Li Peiyuan, Secretary of the Party Committee, CUC, met the visiting delegation of 3, which was headed by Professor Michael Stevenson, President of Canada Simon Fraser University. Vice President Yuan Jun also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Secretary Li Peiyuan looked back on his visit to Simon Fraser University in November, 2009, and the two sides exchanged opinions on the visiting achievements. Secretary Li Peiyuan pointed out that after the founding of the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication in September, 2009, the cooperation between the league colleges maintained good momentum, the ties between the league colleges became closer and closer, exchanges led to remarkable results, and the cooperation and exchange generated essential progress. After becoming league colleges, the two sides built a brotherly relationship, and Secretary Li Peiyuan hoped that the two sides could cooperate in new fields, develop new collaborative programs, and improve cooperation levels and qualities. President Michael Stevenson said that he thanked CUC for establishing the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication, and he felt honored to join it. CUC has a high status in the communication field of China, so he believed that the cooperation of the two colleges would benefit the international development of Simon Fraser University, and he hoped the International League of Higher Education in Media and Communication could achieve greater success with the joint efforts of the league colleges.
Vice President Yuan Jun reviewed the exchange of teachers between the two universities, and he expressed that he was looking forward to visiting Simon Fraser University as the leader of a delegation in this June. President Michael Stevenson expressed his welcome to it, and he expected to reach more exchange achievements.
Accompanying President Michael Stevenson were Catherine Prius, Director of the International Department, and some other visitors. Other present leaders of CUC were Assistant Principal Liu Liqun,, Director of Student Affairs Department Zhang Yuhau, Minister of Postgraduate Student Affairs and Vice Dean of School of Postgraduate Student Liu Shouxun, Director International Exchange and Cooperation Department Zhang Lili, Dean of School Of Television And Film Art Li Xingguo, Dean of School Of Television And Journalism Lei Yuejie, and so on.
Secretary Li Peiyuan had led a delegation to visit Simon Fraser University in November, 2009. During that visit, Secretary Li Peiyuan and President Michael Stevenson had signed a Memorandum of Understanding of Communication University of China and Simon Fraser University as representatives of the two universities. At this meeting in CUC, President Michael Stevenson introduced Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology of SFU in detail, which consists of School of Contemporary Art, School of Communication, School of Animation and Interactive Arts &Technology. Both sides considered it as a field that the two universities could develop further and deeper cooperation. Besides, the two sides discussed further on the Summer Session School of Undergraduate Students, the 3+1 Cooperation and Exchange Program, and the 2+1 Masters and Postgraduate Doctors program.
