Professor Ian Lang of Melbourne University in Australia Visited School of Television and Film Art of CUC

On March 8th, 2011, Professor Ian Lang of Melbourne University in Australia and his assistant Doctor Zhou Yuxing visited School of Television and Film Art(STFA) of CUC. Vice Dean of STFA Bi Genhui met with the visitors. Among the host party were Tang Peilin, Yuan Miaotong, two teachers from STFA. The two sides had discussion about television and film education, personnel training and student exchanges.

Professor Ian Lang currently works as the director of Film and Television Department of Victoria Art School in Melbourne University, Australia, as well as Vice Chairman of CILECT(Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cin ma et de T l vision), Asia-Pacific area. Victoria Art School of Melbourne University is the earliest film college with the most international awards in Australia. Its students have kept on winning prizes in film festivals, such as De Cannes and Sundance Film Festival. As early as in 1993, Professor Ian Lang started to establish contact with Beijing Film Academy and CUC about curriculum set-up. In Asia he has an experience of 20 years shooting documentary films and film teaching. His works have won many awards and were broadcasted in various Australian television stations.
During the visit, Professor Ian Lang raised a series of questions concerning his research subject the influence of new media on film teaching . Vice Dean Bi Genhui gave constructive responses by citing the cases of the educational reform and development of his School of Television and Film Art. Both sides showed that they would continue to develop a further cooperation.
