Vice President Yin Hong Meets the Delegation from the University of Amiens

July, 22, 2010, Jean-Pierre, the dean of the School of Economics and Management of the University of Amiens, Su Xing, the director of the Division of Preparatory Courses, Yang Jie, the head of the China District of the University of Amiens, and Yang Daili, a teacher from the Department of International Cooperation Projects College of Foreign Languages of Southwest Jiaotong University, visited our university to discuss cooperation programs for foreign students. Vice president Yin Hong met the delegation. After a cordial conversation, the two universities reached a preliminary cooperation agreement. Li Dingxin, the deputy director of the Office of Foreign Cooperation and Exchange, and Wu Yingli, the secretary of the Party Committee of the school of foreign languages, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Vice president Yin Hong offered a warm welcome to the delegation from the University of Amiens. He also introduced the situation of the international cooperation and exchange program with the University of Montpellier. Jean-Pierre indicated the intention of his visit. He briefly introduced the School of Economics and Management and the University of Amiens. He also briefed the cooperation with Southwest Jiaotong University. The two sides carried out an in-depth discussion on the direction of the future cooperation and recent preparation work, reaching consensus in many areas.

After that, with the delegation, the Dean went to the School of Foreign Languages. They had an in-depth, comprehensive discussion on the specific issues of foreign students cooperation programs. The two sides had reached consensus on the major aspects, such as admission of students, method of cooperative training, terms and conditions of credit recognition, the number of foreign students, the terms of partnership, the rights and obligations, etc. With this as a prerequisite, on behalf of the School of Foreign Languages, Secretary Wu Yingli signed a top-level cooperation agreement with the School of Economics and Management of the University of Amiens. The agreement indicates that the cooperation of both sides has stepped into a substantive stage, and it also marks a new breakthrough for the international cooperation of the School of Foreign Languages.

The University of Amiens is one of the best public universities in France. Its history can be dated back to the early 19th century. Currently, there are 20,000 students and 1,000 teachers at the university. As an important multidisciplinary higher education institution in France, the University of Amiens consists of 12 schools whose degrees are recognized by the Ministry of Education in China. Amiens is an important city in the north of France. It is the capital of the Somme department in Picardy.
