Recently, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Overseas Students Education Management Branch of Chinese Association of Higher Education honored the colleges and universities which had achieved outstanding results in the education management of overseas students. SCUT was honored as Advanced Group.

In recent years, the percentage of full-time overseas students of SCUT is far higher than the average national level. The overseas student education management of SCUT is characterized by its outstanding scientific research, distinctive school running, and prominent performances in relevant activities.

The quality of SCUT overseas student education is greatly improved, thus enjoying higher popularity and greater influence around the world. Up to 2009, there are in total 855 overseas students from 82 countries in SCUT, among whom full-time students account for 52%, about 20 percentage point higher than the national average level.
