On the morning of Dec. 31, the mobilization meeting of Grade 2010 freshmen military training was held at SCUT South Campus, marking the start of the training.
On the meeting, ZHANG Zhengang, vice-president of SCUT, gave a mobilization speech. He pointed out that, military training, as a compulsory course as well as an important part of university education and personnel training, served the purpose of defense education and quality-oriented education. He hoped that through the training, SCUT students can cultivate persistent faiths and eximious characters. Years of practices and explorations with respect to military training by SCUT proves that military training poses three important functions on the flourish and comprehensive development of college students, namely, to spread new knowledge to students, to expand their capability and to refresh their spirits.
Senior colonel FENG Jian-an expressed the determination that training league would strictly and scientifically carry out the training. At last, more than 60 military instructors gave a uniform and powerful Chinese boxing performance, winning rapturous applause from students.
It is learned that the military training will last for 15 days, with a number of 6,184 student participants. During the training course, the students are supposed to practice in drill regulation, interior service regulations, Discipline Regulations, tactics, topography, fire extinction, emergency evacuation and rescue.
