The second phase of Changchun LRT opened in northeastern city Changchun on December 26, 2006. The new line was built for the 6th Asian Winter Games. The 70% low floor LRVs were put into operation in the 17km line from Weixing Road to Jingyuetan.
The vehicles were built by CNR Changchun Railway Vehicle Co., Ltd. The total number is 40 sets and the total value is 260 million RMB Yuan signed on June 6, 2004.
The train-set is composed of two motor cars and one trailer. The total length is 28.32m, width is 2.65m and the design speed is 80km/h. They are the most beautiful LRVs in China, which feature aluminum-bodied, hydraulic brake, streamline structure, clear view, low noise and comfort.
After the experienced the journey in the new car, the mayor of Changchun, Zhu Yejing, expressed his highly appreciate for the high level cars.
