On June 21st, Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. under CSR CSR Zhuzhou Co., Ltd. signed a supply contract on 15 AC-driven electric locomotives for passenger transport with Uzbekistan National Railway Corporation at Tashkent, capital of this country. This is the fourth time for CSR Zhuzhou Co., Ltd. to win the electrical locomotive orders from central Asia, and the last order from Uzbekistan was for 12 electrical locomotives in April of 2002.
According to the contract, the first locomotive should be delivered at the beginning of 2010, and all the locomotives should be delivered by the first half of 2010, when these locomotives will work with most of the international trains and direct ones on the electrified railway lines in the country and their passenger transport capacities will be doubled.
With the international advanced technologies of rail transport equipment, these locomotives have a designed speed of 160km/h and a continuous power of 6,000kw. The body is in an overall loading structure, and its exterior is colored blue, white and green like the national flag of Uzbekistan, smooth and graceful.
As the cradle of electric locomotives in China, CSR Zhuzhou Co. , Ltd. made further progress in its locomotive development technologies and product quality in recent years, including the upgrades from DC to AC driven models and from common-load high-speed to heavy-load high-speed ones. With its strong technical forces, the company has been working hard on the international market.
At the end of 1997, it exported 12 TM1 electrical locomotives to the Middle East, the first export of Chinese-made electric locomotive; in September 2001, the company won an order for 3 AC-driven electric locomotives from Kazakhstan, the first success in central Asia. Over the past decade, this company secured various orders for 94 electrical locomotives in total from such countries like Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The AC-driven electric locomotives exported by CSR Zhuzhou Co., Ltd. to Uzbekistan for the first order have sustained extreme temperatures from 50 degrees Celsius to minus 40 degrees Celsius after covering a total mileage of more than 6 million km during 6 years. Mr. Apollo, head of the Locomotive Affairs Bureau under the Ministry of Railway of Uzbekistan, gave such high comments: The electric locomotives made by CSR Zhuzhou Co., Ltd. are advanced in technology and reliable in quality.
They serve with 2/3 of passenger transport trains and 2/5 of freight ones on the electrified railways in Uzbekistan and have created high economic and social benefits.
