Beijing-Tianjin Inter-City Railway serving the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games has been in the final stage before official launch. After the joint coordination and test of the whole system turned out to be a success, its no-load trial operation was started on July 1st. CSR has delivered 6 trains with a speed of 300km/h or above to the system, representing more than 70% of the multiple units launched. These trains will begin their trial operation in line with the official schedule of Beijing-Tianjin Inter-City Line.

The original plan of the railway authorities indicated that among the 100 couples of multiple-unit trains on this line, 77 will shuttle between Beijing South Station and Tianjin East, 10 between Beijing South and Tanggu New Coastal Area and another 13 oriented to Jinan, Qingdao and Shanghai through this line.

In addition, 19 couples of direct express trains oriented to Shanghai, Yangzhou, Suzhou and Hangzhou may also have their starting points transferred from Beijing Railway Station to Beijing South Station to alleviate the newly-mounted passenger flows, namely about 80,000 per day, during the Olympic Games.

If all these lines are launched, the daily passenger flow at Beijing South Station will be near 100,000, or as high as 20,000 in the peak hour.
