The construction works for the No. 2 Blast Furnace of Fangda Special Steel Technology Co., Ltd. was formally started by the 19th China Metallurgical Construction Group (19MCC Group) on March 3, 2011. Chairman Zhong Chongwu of Fangda Special Steel Technology, Vice General Manager Zang Zhonghai of WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Ltd. (WISDRI) and Assistant General Manager Huang Taiping of 19MCC Group were present at the project commencement ceremony.
Fangda Special Steel Technology Co., Ltd. was formerly known as Nanchang Changli Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., the most important subsidiary of Nanchang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. The company possesses the whole production process and facilities for coking, sintering, puddling, steel-making and steel-rolling. It also engages in the manufacture and distribution of spring flat steel and automobile parts. The No. 2 Blast Furnace to be built up is 1,050 cubic meters in volume, and is deemed to be the core project with the largest investment among all the 2nd-phase technological upgrading projects. After completion, a brand new production pattern will be created, which will contribute to: (i) reduction of steel-making costs; (ii) elimination of backward equipment; (iii) relieving stress for environment protection; (iv) developing recycling economy; and (v) fully increasing the economic and social benefits of the company. The scope of the works undertaken by 19MCC Group covers the blast furnace TRT, the fan station and the joint pump room. And these works are expected to be completed and put into commissioning in October 2011.
