A delegation of Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), headed by Dr. Pham Van Quy, the vice-president of VAST, paid a visit to the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) on Sep. 15, 2009. Dr. Xin Ma, the director of R&D department, introduced SIAT s development and its research infrastructure. Then the delegation visited several laboratories, including Photovoltaic Solar Cell, CAE, Low-cost Healthcare.
Mrs. Jianyuan Bai, the vice-director of SIAT, held a meeting with the visitors after the lab visit. Dr. Pham Van Quy expressed great interests in cooperation with SIAT, especially in the field of biotechnology and health. During the meeting, Dr. Truong Nam Hai, the director of the Institute of Biotechnology, VAST, and Dr. Hairong Zheng, made in-depth discussions on potential cooperation topics. The two sides agreed to promote bilateral S&T cooperation and build up partnership as soon as possible.
Founded in 1975, VAST is a national agency in charge of research and development of natural science and technology. The VAST is composed of 18 research institutes and 9 sub-institutes.
