The 2010 Chinese Language and Chinese Culture Winter Camp of Southeast Asian Chinese Youths (Hunan Camp) opened in Hunan Normal University on December 24. 120 Thai and Indonesian Chinese youths gathered in Hunan to experience Chinese culture for half a month.
Organized by the China Overseas Exchange Association and co-hosted by the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Hunan Provincial People s Government, the campaign aims at helping overseas Chinese learn Chinese and have a better understanding of China s actual situations and Chinese culture.
During the campaign, these overseas campers will attend courses such as Chinese language and culture, calligraphy, paper cutting, wushu (martial arts), and dancing. They will have get-togethers with Hunan students to promote mutual understanding and enhance friendship. Meanwhile, they will visit Hunan Provincial Museum, Yueyang Tower, Zhangjiajie City and other places to enjoy the beautiful scenery there.
As a Chinese education base of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council since 2003, Hunan Normal University has held seven winter camps and three summer camps.
