Changsha: 12,000 People Sweep Snow to Ensure a Smooth Traffic

Over 12,000 city inspectors, sanitation workers, and emergency personnel from municipal affairs and greening departments cleaned the icy and snow-covered roads and bridges to facilitate a smooth traffic on 1,700 roads including 50 major and minor trunk roads in Changsha City, capital of Hunan Province, from the early morning of January 19 to the daybreak of January 20.

More than 200 cleaning staffs were organized to do the clean work on the roads prone to thick snow and ice in Changsha s Kaifu District and Yuhua District. Special information observers were dispatched there to provide latest information for relevant departments so as to promptly discover and solve the problems during the removal work. In Yuelu District, the law enforcement brigade of urban management arranged 100-odd emergency workers to clean the snow.

On January 19, the urban management departments of the whole city mobilized 500 tons of industrial salts, 5 salt-spraying wagons, and 8 snow-plowing trucks to clean the streets. They have also prepared 50,000 Anti-slip sacks and made full anti-freezing preparations.
