Changsha Striving to Improve the Quality of Education System

He Jihua, vice mayor of Changsha City, talked face-to-face with parents of students on the TV program "Changsha Dialogue" on March 5.

He Jihua said Changsha is now boosting the preschool education by means like constructing kindergartens in newly-built communities; reconstructing the unoccupied primary schools (especially those in rural areas) into kindergartens; and directing social funds into privately-run nursery schools through government purchase.

He Jihua remarked that parents should not have blind faith in elite schools. These schools have their advantages without doubt, but every student has their own characteristics. Parents should consider their children's actual traits and choose schools nearby. Changsha now is striving to realize balance in education. It first reinforces the hardware construction, trying to narrow the gap between schools. At the same time, it is vigorously promoting the application of information technology, allowing all the students to share the superior education resources through networks.
