Shantou Tourism Bureau Promotes Local Tourism in Hong Kong

The maiden flight to take off on April 30th signals the commissioning of the direct air route between Hong Kong and Shantou, which will be a great convenience to Hong Kong compatriots, Shantounese in Hong Kong and foreign friends who will come to Shantou for sight-seeing, fact-finding visits and visiting relatives and friends. As an effort to make Shantou's tourism more popular and more attractive, and to facilitate the exchange and communication between Hong Kong and Shantou tourism industries, Shantou Tourism Bureau sponsored a promotional event yesterday morning in Hong Kong Shangri-La Hotel and presented to the Hong Kong tourism industry the rich tourism resources in Shantou.
Shantou's tourism industry has experienced a continuous development in recent years. In 2009, Shantou received over 6.8 million person-time who stayed overnight and earned 7.429 billion yuan in the tourism industry. There are now over 40 star hotels, 60 travel agencies and 10 key tourist resorts in Shantou and the city is working all out to put up the four coastal ecological tourism brands of Ecological Coast, Hometown of Overseas Chaoshanese, Hometown of delicacies and Century-old Trade Port. As it becomes more and more convenient to travel between Guangdong and Hong Kong, a new wave of Shantounese tourists come to Hong Kong for vacations and the number of Hong Kong compatriots, Shantounese in Hong Kong and foreign friends to visit Shantou for sight-seeing, fact-finding visits and meeting relatives increases with each passing day. The exchange between Shantou and Hong Kong peoples has been deepened as well.
