A fourth-Dimension (4D) roller coaster, one of the most advanced and exhilarating amusement rides in the world, will be made in Dongguan. Currently there are only two 4D coasters in the world, respectively in Six Flags Magic Mountain of the US and Fuji-Q Highland of Japan. Guangdong Qiguang Group Co., Ltd. located in Qishi Township of Dongguan City, will make the first 4D coaster in China.
The 4D roller coaster is of highly scientific and technological content. Different from ordinary roller coasters, it is a type of steel roller coaster whereby riders are rotated independently of the orientation of the track, generally about a horizontal axis that is perpendicular to the track.
As Qiguang Group introduced, it is partnered with the Canadian DSL Company to make the first 4D roller coaster in China. As of the recent time, the main steel frame of the 1,080 meter coaster has been basically completed. The whole project is estimated to finish in mid 2011. After that, the roller coaster will be placed in a large amusement park in Changzhou City of Jiangsu Province in East China.
