With the festive music and gaily dances, the university leaders including Chancellor Luo Weidong, President Xu Jinwu, Vice Chancellor Xie Hui, Vice President Zhang Xinxin, Zhang Yue, Wu Dekun and Sun Dongbai all the international students and their teachers gathered at the Happy Rabbit New Year's Party held on December 29th to embrace the upcoming 2011.
At the party, President Xu Jinwu delivered his new year s address, extending his best wishes for all international students in USTB. In the address, he noted that till 2010 over 700 international students of more than 100 countries have studied in USTB. With this amazing increase, he wished that all international students would fit well and have a good time studying and living in USTB.
Later President Xu awarded the Chancellor s Scholarship to outstanding students in the hope that they will keep on studying hard and contribute to the development of relationships between China and their countries. The Chancellor s Scholarship , which was granted first ever, was given to 14 graduate international students to study in USTB. The party then reached a climax when Vice Chancellor Xie and the Vice Presidents awarded the Outstanding Students Scholarship to those excellent students.
During the gathering, performances made by the international students received long applause. It featured a rich variety of artistic activities, including songs, street dance and sitcoms.
Finally, the International Office sent their most sincere greetings to faculties and students, wishing them all happiness, peace and excellence in the New Year!
