On the morning of October 15th the opening ceremony of the 2010 USTB Open Day for Japanese Universities was held in Yifu Lecture Hall. Chaired by Professor Wang Ge, Director of the International Office of USTB, the ceremony attracted Professor Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, Mr. Yanagisawa Koji, First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in China and representatives from 12 famous universities in Japan to attend.
Professor Xu Jinwu extended his warmest welcome to the representatives of each university and wished this Open Day a great success in his opening speech. He noted that USTB had laid great emphasis on international exchange and collaboration and made extensive cooperation with Japanese universities such as Hokkaido University and Tohoku University. He hoped that this Open Day for Japanese Universities would serve as a bridge of more communication among universities to achieve a win-win situation in inter-university cooperation.
Mr. Yanagisawa Koji from the Embassy of Japan expressed his appreciation towards USTB holding this event, and hoped that USTB would enhance its collaboration with Japanese universities in academic fields and foster the friendly ties between the two countries.
Mr. Nozawa, Director of Hokkaido University Beijing Office, said at the ceremony that he wished the tradition of cooperation and exchange between USTB and Hokkaido University would be continued to further bear fruits in academic and students exchange. On the ceremony, Prof. Watanabe of University of Electro- Communications and Prof. Shoji Nishikata of Tokyo Denki University delivered speeches on university internationalization. In the University Introduction Session the representatives of those 12 universities left a deep impression on the students by vivid presentations with abundant pictures.
In the afternoon, the representatives of those 12 universities held a promotion show at the Students Activity Centre, communicating face to face with over 400 USTB students. The 2010 USTB Open Day for Japanese Universities provided a platform for USTB students to know more about Japanese universities, and enhanced and deepened concrete cooperation between USTB and Japanese universities.
