Conference to Promote International Outreach

USTB is expected to fine-tune its strategies of international development to cope with the new changes of the world. A conference to lay the ground for the university's strategies not only for domestic reputation but for the international development was held on November 12 in Yifu Auditorium, USTB. University leaders, faculties and student representatives attended the conference.
Prof. Luo Weidong, Chancellor of USTB, chaired the conference. Mr. Hao Ping, Vice-Minister of Ministry of Education (MOE), was invited to give a speech. He said on the opening session that universities must pay great attention to broaden students' views and enhance cooperation with other universities worldwide. He noted that USTB should seize the opportunity to elevate its competence, competitiveness and international reputation as our government issued supportive policies on university development.
Prof. Zhang Yue, Vice-President of USTB, made a brief retrospect to the achievements of international exchange and cooperation of our university. In recent years, USTB has established cooperation with more than 80 overseas universities and institutes, enrolled over 500 international students and engaged more than 1500 foreign experts, including Nobel Laureates.
Prof. Xu Jinwu, President of USTB, concluded the meeting, noting that the university should work together to optimize the managing mechanism and escalate the competence of teachers. He said that besides academic exchanges with other domestic and overseas universities, cooperation and communication should also be expanded within schools on campus.
A draft document on advancing the international development of USTB was released by the university authority. Further elaborated on the meeting by Prof. Wang Ge, Director of the International Office, the document is now open to comments and amendments.
