Chancellor Luo Weidong, President Xu Jinwu and Vice-President Zhang Yue met on November 17 with visiting German universities' president delegation led by Prof. Andreas Pinkwart, deputy prime minister of North RhineWestphalia, signing agreements to upgrade cooperation among universities of two sides.
Luo said USTB will start new cooperation programs with RWTH Aachen and TU Dortmund University and hope to step up communication and cooperation with other German universities.
Prof. Andreas Pinkwart appreciated the cooperation between USTB and both two universities and believed that through further communication more USTB students will have the opportunity to study in Germany. Professor Ernst Schmachtenberg, Rector of RWTH Aachen and Dr. Ursula Gather, Rector of TU Dortmund University made speeches hoping to enhance the cooperative relations.
President Xu Jinwu signed the renewed agreements respectively with Prof. Ernst Schmachtenber and Dr. Ursula Gather to expand and escalate cooperation, especially in students exchange program and scientific research.
After the meeting the delegation toured around the university and visited State Key Laboratory of Advanced Metals and Materials, Engineering Research Institute of USTB, School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Economics and Management.
