On July 9, the opening ceremony of Design and Innovation--2009 USTB Camp for Industrial Design across the Taiwan Strait, was held in USTB. 13 universities in Taiwan, including National Cheng Kung University, Fu Jen Catholic University, etc, joined in the camp. Deputy managing director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office of Ministry of Education Ding Yuqiu, vice president of Beijing society of Industrial Designers Song Weizu, leaders of universities of Taiwan and University of Science & Technology Beijing, were all present at the opening ceremony. Prof. Luo Weidong, Chancellor of USTB and deputy managing director Ding Yuqiu delivered opening speeches.
At the ceremony President Xu Jinwu of USTB, president He Weizhen of Dayeh University and President Yan Weimou of Ming Chuan University signed a general agreement for cooperation. All leaders visited the exhibition of design works of faculties and students across the Taiwan Strait. Hundreds of design works were on display, raging from product design, graphic design, interactive design, animation and space design, by means of video, panel and exhibits.
During the camp, participants visited DRC Beijing Society of Industrial Designers, 798 art community and Forbidden City. Media, like Xinhua News Agency, CCTV4, reported opening ceremony of this camp.
