Torrential rains hit parts of Columbia on December 5, causing devastating mudslides in the suburban areas of Colombia's second-largest city Medellin, leaving about 200 people trapped under the debris. Two Sany SY210 excavators arrived at the site after a night s travel to clear the roads leading to the disaster-stricken areas.
Learning about the gravity of the situation in Medellin, the Peruvian Subsidiary of Sany Overseas immediately sent out its service engineers to help with the rescue work. The engineers made thorough inspections and maintenance of the two excavators and insisted to assist the customer to work at the front line.
If there is still hope to save one more life, we will stay at the front line to guarantee the non-stopping normal operation of our equipment, said a Sany service engineer.
According to the President of Columbia Juan Manuel Santos, the torrential rains which lasted for weeks have caused unprecedented floods in Columbia. By now, 27 out of the 32 provinces in Columbia were flooded, resulting in 174 deaths and 225 injuries. Two million people have been affected.
