March 15 - A delegation from George Fox University in the United States, including Thomas C. Peng, Director of International Admissions, and Jiang Fei, the Executive for the China Program, visited GDUFS on March 2nd.They were received by Vice Deans of the School of Finance and Economics Yu Pengyi, Shao Peide, and Liu Zhonghua, and joined by Liu Xiang from the Division of Graduate Student. The two sides met with the intent to discuss future cooperation.
Mr. Yu Pengyi welcomed the guests and briefed them on the history and current status of the school. Afterwards, Mr. Shao Peide emphasized that the School of Finance and Economics has been implementing the GDUFS 310 Education Internationalization Scheme.The 310 Plan aims at cultivating and developing well-rounded personnel.And following with the scheme, it is expected that collaborative programs on both academic exchange and scientific research between the two universities will soon begin after detailed discussion.

Dr. Thomas C. Peng expressed his appreciation of the warm welcome at GDUFS. He then provided an overview of the George Fox University that attaches great importance to maintaining a cooperative relationship with GDUFS.He went onto mention that visits paid by GDUFS Delegation to George Fox in 2009 as well as the memorandum signed by the two universities in 2008 contributed to facilitating bilateral cooperation. Dr. Peng also commented that the School of Finance and Economics remains accessible to high quality students and rich teaching resources, in spite of its short history.

Over the following two days, the launch of a "2+2+1" collaborative bachelors-masters program was the key issue discussed. There were talks about allowing GDUFS students to go on exchange in George Fox and graduate in a shorter time span. It is expected that, in the near future, a cooperative agreement will be signed.
