The Pearl River Delta played a pioneer role in Guangzhou's economic growth and social development. After its rapid economic growth and high - speed urbanization driven by industrialization ,the Pearl River Delta is entering a period of integration of resources. In response to these realities, Li Yongning introduced the "2008-2020Reform And Development of the Pearl River Delta Plan " .In his speech ,he paid more attention to the competitiveness of urban areas, advanced manufacturing industries, modern services and integration of domestic and foreign resources .He pointed out the strategic significance of these aspects for the Pearl River Delta's development.

Speaking of the Pearl River Delta's economic and social potential, Li Yongning compared

it with two national metropolitan groups Beijing and Shanghai in basic situation. He pointed out that the

development of the Pearl River Delta had become mature. But if we want to reach the

world level, we still need to implement the concept of innovative optimization and the

integration of resources.

Meanwhile, Li Yongning analyzed some questions on the Pearl River Delta region of the new round of urban space development and urbanization trends, especially related to strategic cooperation between regions on an international scale. His speech sparked strong interest in participating international scholars. The Q & A session and discussion at the end of the evening lasted more than an hour.
