FLTRP Cup National English Speaking Contest which is organized by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, P.R.C. and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press was held during December 8th to 12th in Beijing. This contest was recognized as the most influential and authorized one with highest standard. Contestants from across the country got together in Beijing for participation in the competition lasting for 5 days.
Zhong Yingxian ( Zhong s supervisor-Li Feiwu), the student of School of Foreign Study, representing Guangdong Province, won the first prize in the final contest and was awarded the Best Pronunciation. This is a historical breakthrough both for SCAU students and contestants from GuangdongProvince to won these two honorable prizes. Moreover Zhong will also be sponsored by the contest committee to visit Singapore and Malaysia next year.
With a goal of strict evaluation process and diverse in forms , National English Speaking Contest consists of prepared speech, impromptu speech, Q&A, debate and so on. The contest required the competitors to be a master of the English language, critical thinking and comprehensive culture. It was truly a challenge for the contestants. Zhong s outstanding performance attributed to the meticulous preparation and good comprehensive quality as well as the support from the teachers of the SFS. The favorable achievements made by SCAU students does credit to the university. Meanwhile it is a convinced outcome of bringing up the foreign language talents.
